Larry Buxton began Larry Buxton Coaching after a distinguished 41-year career as an ordained clergyperson in the United Methodist Church.  Larry knows the unique and complex challenges of leading congregations, through times of stability as well as times of crisis.

Larry is a certified Resilient Leadership coach, using the insights of family systems pioneers Murray Bowen and Ed Friedman to improve leaders' functioning in organizations.

He also holds the ACC credential (Associate Certified Coach) from the International Coach Federation and the BCC credential (Board Certified Coach) from the Center for Credentialing & Education. 

A skilled speaker, Larry regularly teaches summer sessions on "The Practice of Preaching" and preaching practicums at Wesley Seminary, Washington, DC.

Larry enjoys the history of rock music, learning to play the piano, leading travel groups, visiting wineries and reading widely. Along with his wife Beverly, he is a Principal in Mease-Buxton Associates LLC, a coaching and consulting firm in the Washington, DC and Northern Virginia area.  They are the proud parents of two sons and a granddaughter-on- the-way, the first girl born in his family since 1879!
